Devin McQueen

Born on October 23, 2003, Devin was diagnosed with Short Bowel Syndrome.  Due to Devin's medical needs and family situation he became a ward of the State of New Jersey and spent the first 13 months of his life in the hospital.

Devin came into our lives in December 2004.  Devin was medically fragile, but he was so full of life.  We were determined to bring quality and happiness to Devin's life.  During the last 4 years we have consulted with some of the worlds most renowned experts on caring for children with short bowel syndrome and bowel rehabilitation.   In February of 2009 doctors at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC performed a life-saving bowel transplant. Volunteers are actively trying to raise $100,000.00, to help defray the cost of life saving surgeries.   **** If you would like to read about Devin and his remarkable will to live please click on DEVIN'S JOURNEY in the patient info box....

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant needy patients. In Staten Island, NY volunteers are raising funds for Devin's Ray Of Hope... A second chance in life..
